Statue of Lilith in Gold
  • Statue of Lilith in Gold

As a deity, Lilith is often revered in modern pagan and occult traditions, where she is seen as a goddess of the night, independence, sexuality, and feminine power. In these contexts, she embodies the archetype of the dark feminine, representing the aspects of womanhood that challenge traditional norms, such as autonomy, rebellion, and the embrace of one’s shadow self.

Lilith is associated with the moon, especially the new moon, and with themes of transformation and liberation. In various contemporary spiritual practices, she is invoked for her protective and empowering qualities, particularly for women seeking to reclaim their autonomy or to confront their fears. Her role as a deity in these practices highlights her as a symbol of inner strength, mystery, and primal energy.

Lilith is a figure with origins in various mythologies, often depicted as a female demon or a dark goddess. In Jewish folklore, she is considered Adam’s first wife, created before Eve, who refused to submit to him and left the Garden of Eden. In this narrative, she becomes a symbol of independence and rebellion. In later traditions, particularly in medieval demonology, Lilith is portrayed as a dangerous seductress and a mother of demons, associated with night and the supernatural. Over time, Lilith has also been reinterpreted as a feminist icon representing empowerment and resistance against patriarchal control.

This depiction of Lilith Is called The Burney Relief (also known as the Queen of the Night relief), it is a Mesopotamian terracotta plaque in high relief of the Isin-Larsa period or Old-Babylonian period, depicting a winged, nude, goddess-like figure with bird's talons, flanked by owls, and perched upon two lions.

This statue is resin printed using plant based resin and measures approx 6” tall.
