Hexennnacht: Pathwork to the Witch’s Sabbat, April 30th
Walpurgisnacht: Der Aufbruch der Hexen (“The Rise of the Witches”), Luis Richardo Felaro, (1878)
Hexxenacht: Pathworking to the Witch's Sabbat atop Brocken Mountain
Across many parts of Europe, 30th April, the night before Beltane (May Day) is known as Walpurgisnacht or Hexxennacht (“The Night of the Witches”). It is the counterpoint to Samhain and the veil between worlds is equally as thin and malleable.
It is traditionally held to be a night of supernatural wildness and revelry when spirits are extremely active and witches rendez-vous on top of Brocken Mountain in Germany to celebrate the end of winter and the promise of transformation and renewal with the coming of spring. It is also an important time to honour those who have suffered due to superstition.
To keep the tradition alive and offer a sense of connection to our ancestors; let us take flight and journey to Mount Brocken to join the Witch's Sabbat! As Gerald Gardiner asserted: “once a witch; always a witch!”. If you have found your way into the Craft in this lifetime; you will most likely have also lived the witch’s Way in previous incarnations, and will have ancestral witch allies. This is, therefore, a wonderful opportunity to deepen your connection to mystical witchcraft and meet an ancestor who can offer guidance, healing, inspiration, joy, freedom from restriction and direct revelation about your lineage.
The evening will comprise a brief introduction to the significance and history of the sadly, often overlooked, Hexxenacht and its rituals; including the inevitable distortion that came about under the influence of Christianity which tried to reclaim the night by venerating a saint who protects against the so-called “evils” of witchcraft. We'll then apply our flying ointment, climb onto our brooms and fly off into the astral realm, following the sonic drive of the drum and guided esoteric imagery that will unlock and open aspects of your unconscious, allowing you to more fully realise and integrate your potential in this incarnation. There will be time at the end for sharing, questions and answers.
Please wear warm, comfortable clothing. The Pathworking will last around 30 minutes. You can journey sitting in a chair or lying down - the more comfortable you are; the deeper the journey will be so please feel free to bring anything that makes you feel snug and comfortable. Wearing an eye mask or mind-fold can also enhance the experience.
